St. John XXIII Award
(Award description and past recipients)\ Most Rev. Francis J. Kane, D.D. Retired Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Bishop Kane was ordained to the priesthood by John Cardinal Cody at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary on Wednesday, May 14, 1969. He then served as associate pastor at St. John Fisher Parish and St. Nicholas of Tolentine, and was also named associate director of Center for Pastoral Ministry in 1973. During his priesthood, he was Director of the Office for the Ministry of Peace and Justice, Director of the Office of Evangelization and Christian Life, and Director of Catholic Relief Services. From 1993 to his appointment as auxiliary bishop in 2003, Kane served as pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Wilmette. He also became dean of Deanery A in 1999. His Episcopal Ordination was March 19, 2003, and then became the Vicar General for the Archdiocese. A Auxiliary Bishop, he also served as Episcopal Vicar of Vicariate II. During this time, hhe was the Cardinal's Liaison liaison for the Annual Catholic Appeal and for the Office for Lay Ecclesial Ministry. Common Ground Award (Award description and past recipients) Deacon Richard Hudzik Richard has been the Vicar for Deacons for the Archdiocese of Chicago since July 2013. Prior to this most recent ministry, he was the Director of the Cardinal Stitch Retreat House from 2005 through 2012. Through the University of St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, he has a Doctor of Ministry; through the Catholic Theological Union, he has a Masters of Divinity; and through St. Mary of the Woods College, he has a Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology. His personal ministry as Deacon is at Divine Providence Parish and School in Winchester. COORDINATING BOARD AWARDS
